My name is Jodeci (yes... that Jodeci), and igotbuns was born out of equal parts frustration and necessity. Like so many others, my hair journey has been a constant cycle-from relaxers to protective styles to those awkward in-between phases we all know too well. Growing up, I was always in one of two modes: either my hair was relaxed, or it was braided. Relaxers gave me sleek, manageable hair, but at some point, they always caused breakage, no matter what I did or how careful I was. And when that happened, it was straight to the braids.

I never really learned how to do my own hair. Someone else was always doing it-whether it was a beautician or a braider. By the time I became an adult, I had to find my own rhythm. That rhythm turned into relying on updo styles like buns, ponytails, and braided looks.

They were protective, practical, and stylish, but I'll be the first to admit: I chose them because they required the least effort when it came to takedown. I've cried over too many never-ending takedowns to put myself through that again.

The frustration came when I realized there wasn't anything out there made to protect these styles. No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find anything that worked for how I styled my hair. I just wanted something that would protect my crown without forcing me to compromise on the way I looked or felt.
